This post begins a new series of mythbuster posts about diamond misconceptions. Incorrect assumptions about diamonds are everywhere - the internet, word of mouth from family and friends - and they put you at a disadvantage when you begin shopping for diamonds.
Today, we are addressing a prevalent myth: All diamonds of the same color, clarity and cut grade are the same.
Here is the reality:
- Every diamond is different, even diamonds of the same color, clarity and cut grades. On paper they may look the same, but in reality they are not.
- Diamond grades are not absolutes, they're ranges. You simply can't purchase diamonds by grade alone. It doesn't tell you how beautiful a diamond is. There's variation in how beautiful a diamond at the high-end of a grade range versus one at the low end of the same grade.
When shopping for a diamond what should you do? Look at the diamond. After all, it is how the diamond looks that is what you are buying. Is is brilliant and sparkling? Compare several - choose the one that is most beautiful. You can't go wrong,
